General
What is The Stern Advantage Program?
The Program is an intensive and selective four-week, three-credit business-training program designed for non-business majors. The Program provides an introduction to the major business disciplines: accounting, finance, management and marketing.
When does The Stern Advantage Program take place?
The upcoming formal academic program will take place Monday, June 8 through Thursday July 2, 2009.
What is the format of the Program?
Students will participate in daily (Monday through Friday) classroom lectures, case analyses and simulations, group projects, workshops, and company visits.
Is the Program taught by Stern faculty?
Yes, The Stern Advantage Program is taught by a series of top business professors at the NYU Stern School of Business.
Where are the company visits?
The company visit sites are still being determined. In the past, students visited such companies as Citigroup, News Corporation, American Express, Ogilvy & Mather, Sony Urban Music, and Carnegie Hall.
Application
When is the application deadline?
The priority application deadline was April 2, 2009. Applications are now being accepted on a rolling basis. Please note that housing is not guaranteed after April 2, 2009; however, we will make every effort to accommodate those requiring housing.

Who is eligible?
Undergraduates who have completed their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college, as well as recent college graduates with solid credentials are eligible for The Stern Advantage Program. Please contact The Stern Advantage Program Office to discuss individual circumstances.
Is there a minimum GPA requirement?
There are no minimum GPA or grade requirements. The admissions committee factors academic and extracurricular achievement as well as the content of your application essay.
What must be included in the application ?
- Completed online application form
- One essay - included in online application
- A letter of recommendation from a professor or recent employer - to be mailed separately
- Official transcript from all colleges that you have attended - to be mailed separately

How do I obtain an application?
Applications for the Stern Advantage Program are made available online. Please note that application forms must be submitted electronically.
Housing, Tuition & Fees
How much is tuition?
Tuition for The Stern Advantage Program is $9,000. This includes class instruction, course materials, transportation to and from program events, career workshops, corporate visits, social events, and campus housing. Tuition without housing is $8300.
Are meals included?
Meals are not included, but you may purchase an optional meal plan. For more information about meal plans, please visit http://www.nyu.edu/summer/housing/dining.php.
Where will I be housed?
NYU Housing provides housing in one of NYU's air-conditioned residence halls, all of which feature non-community bathrooms.
Does the tuition fee change if I do not want to stay in NYU housing?
Although NYU housing is recommended for both convenience and socialization, tuition without housing will be $8300.
If accepted, do I need to pay a deposit for the program?
Yes, a non-refundable $1,000 deposit is due at the time of registration.
Is financial aid available?
The Stern Advantage Program was pleased to be able to offer limited financial assistance for the 2009 program in the form of a scholarship to a select group of accepted students who demonstrated financial need and showed that they would enhance the program through their leadership. Note that no full program scholarships are available.
We also encourage students to find out if any financial aid is available through your home institutions.
