|Research Title:||The Digital Future of University Education|
|Description:||Digital technologies have begun to disrupt the "industry" of higher education. New platforms like Udacity, Coursera, Udemy and edX promise digital courses from top professors accessible outside the confines of brand-name universities. As these platforms gain momentum, many existing education institutions will go through a significant transformation, and the nature of higher education is likely to be redefined.
This research project will map out new business models and product strategy for universities and other emerging digital education intermediaries, assessing which ones will survive and what form they will take. The research is towards a forthcoming book, "The Era of Free Knowledge?"
As a research assistant, you will
- gather, organize and analyse cost, revenue, size, capital structure, financing and "product" data of current US universities
- conduct research into the evolution of university education in the United States and Western Europe
- gather information about emerging digital education platforms.
