| Description: |
The Broadway theater, known especially for the musical (one of the few purely American art forms), has become a global phenomenon in the live entertainment industry. The business of the Broadway theater industry is as exciting as what appears on the stage, with individual shows often making or losing millions of dollars for their investors. In this project you will become involved in a research team exploring the building of statistical models for an investigation of the factors relating to the success of Broadway shows. This will involve reading papers relating to previous work in the field and gathering data for use in statistical modeling. Based on available time, skills and interest, this work can potentially lead to a more active role in fitting advanced statistical models to the data, with the possibility of coauthorship in papers that are produced as a result. Strong familiarity with regression modeling is a must for the latter possibility, with familiarity with R also a major advantage. |
