Social Impact Initiatives at Stern

The business organization has become the dominant social institution of our age. At Stern we are entrusted with developing socially responsible future business leaders who will meet the economic and social challenges of this century.  Toward that end, we offer a balance of curricular and co-curricular opportunities that allows students to think critically about how business affects society and then apply classroom lessons to make a real-world impact.

Inside the classroom, students participate in the Social Impact Core, a series of courses designed to introduce students to the interconnections between business and society.

To complement in-class learning, the Undergraduate College offers students countless opportunities to make a positive social impact on campus, in the local community or across the globe. On campus, students and staff unite to support the NYU and Stern "green" initiatives. Through various community service efforts, students can join alumni or corporate partners to affect positive change, often locally in one of New York City's five boroughs. Students can also participate in the Global Volunteers program, or apply for a Social Impact Stipend and partake in a service or social entrepreneurship project either at home or abroad.
