Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing

Philipp Schnabl

On Friday, November 6, Scott Galloway, Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing, in partnership with the Luxury and Retail MBA student club, will host Innovation Forum 2009, an unprecedented event focusing on the rapidly changing luxury goods market.  Attendees will hear from thought leaders from the industry, academia and the arts, who will share never-seen-before research, trends and best practices on topics including technology, media and marketing.

“Luxury goods are a $250bb business and the financial downturn has caused the industry to reassess its business model, including the use of digital media,” said Professor Galloway.  “It will be exciting to hear, from some of the industry’s biggest names, how the industry is grappling with downturn and creative ways they are strengthening their brands.”

Professor Galloway, an entrepreneur and brand management expert, will present his new, first-of-its-kind Digital IQ Index, a study of the digital competence of 109 luxury good brands in 11 categories including fashion, watches and automobiles.  The study ranked brands on criteria including search engine optimization, brand translation, ability to leverage technology and use of social media.

Professor Galloway teaches brand strategy to second year MBA students.   He is the founder of Red Envelope and a member of the Board of Directors of The New York Times Company and Eddie Bauer.  Professor Galloway was elected to the World Economic Forum’s “Global Leaders of Tomorrow” which recognizes 100 individuals under the age of forty “whose accomplishments have had impact on a global level.”
