The Stern doctoral program offers nine areas of study, and students must select an area at the time of application. Each department admits new students every year. It is common for students to take classes and work with faculty across different areas. In addition, students may choose to further enhance their program of study by incorporating classes in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Courant Institute of Mathematics at NYU.
