The Stern Marketing Department is ranked as one of the top departments in the world in terms of total number of publications in marketing and related journals. A study conducted by UT Dallas based on publications in top marketing journals such as JMR, JCR and Marketing Science ranked our department as #5 in the world for the most recent 5-year time frame. In the past 3 years, we published more than 100 articles, with two-thirds appearing in top-level journals.
Our faculty members have won or been finalists for best-paper awards, have had their articles adopted in doctoral programs around the world, and have their work frequently cited. Our faculty are frequently invited to present their research at top business schools and they also actively present their research at the best academic conferences, further enhancing our department’s reputation. Our faculty are very involved in the academic community and serve as Editors or on Editorial Review Boards of many scholarly marketing journals (e.g., Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, etc.), and hold leadership positions in many professional organizations (e.g., American Marketing Association, Association for Consumer Research, Society for Consumer Psychology, INFORMS, etc.).
Our department’s main mission continues to that of maintaining our reputation as one of the top marketing departments in the world. We therefore continue to strive for excellence in research, achieved by supporting promising junior faculty, retaining tenured faculty and supporting and encouraging their research activities, and selectively recruiting senior star faculty.
