We are pleased to present the following alphabetical list of lenders who have expressed an active interest in lending to NYU students. You are not required to borrow from any of the lenders listed below and there is no penalty for selecting a different lender, if you prefer. We encourage you to compare information among these and other available student loan providers. There are no maximum income limits. Individual lenders will, at their discretion, evaluate credit history. For application information and details about terms and conditions, please visit the lender's web site or contact the sponsor's toll-free 800 number. Please note that application fees are not refundable.

International students without a co-signer:

Chase Select International Loan 

JPMorgan Chase Bank makes the Chase Select International Loan available to eligible NYU students enrolled in various schools. The Office of Financial Aid will notify all eligible students by e-mail (sent to the student's NYU Stern e-mail address).  Please contact the Stern Financial Aid Office if you are a currently enrolled student and interested in receiving more information about this loan.

Global Student Loan*

Global Student Loan Corporation (GSLC) and HSBC have designed an international student loan program to provide funding initially to students from India to attend U.S. schools. GSLC and HSBC will be expanding the program to include students from other countries of origin from around the world. The minimum amount one can borrow is $10,000; the maximum amount is $50,000.  The current interest rate is 13.50% based upon India Retail Lending Rate (RLR).  There is a 2.75% origination fee.

International students with a co-signer:

Chase Select Student Loan
Sponsor: J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, 1-866-306-0868.
Interest: Currently as low as 6.07%. Based on variable rate equal to 3-month LIBOR plus 4.75% to 11.75% (based on borrower's credit history), adjusted quarterly.
Eligibility: Student can be registered full-time, half-time (6 to 11 credit points) or less than half-time in a degree or certificate program. International students or students who do not meet credit, income, and employment guidelines will need to apply with an eligible U.S. co-signer.
Term: 20 years to repay (25 years for loans in excess of $30,000).
Fees: None.
Deferral: Principal and interest.

 

Citibank CitiAssist Student Loan  
Sponsor: Citibank, 800-967-2400.
Interest: Currently as low as 4.25%. Based on variable rate equal to prime rate plus 1.0% to prime rate plus 7.50% (based on borrower's credit history), for life of loan. Adjusted quarterly.
Eligibility: Student can be enrolled full-time, half-time or less-than-half-time be enrolled in a degree or non-degree program. International student with a U.S. co-signer.
Term: 20 years.
Fees: 0.00% to 6.00%
Deferral: Principal and interest are deferred while students are in-school. Any unpaid interest while in-school will be capitalized once at repayment.

 

Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund - Awards interest-free loans of up to $15,000 to qualified students from Latin American and Caribbean countries with a U.S. co-signer. 

 

Sallie Mae Smart Option Student Loan* 
Sponsor: Sallie Mae, 1-888-272-5543
Interest: Interest rates are variable, based on the one-month LIBOR Rate:
LIBOR + 4.0% (APR 4.625%) to LIBOR + 10.50% (APR 11.125%). The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is a variable rate and will increase if the one-month LIBOR rate increases. The APRs shown are APRs effective as of 3/25/09.
Eligibility: You must attend an eligible school at least half time and be working towards your degree. You must meet current credit and other eligibility criteria.
Term: Will vary based on loan amount and year in school.
Fees: 0.00% to 3.00%
Deferral: Required interest-only payments for in-school period including separation period (formerly known as grace). Principal and Interest payments required after separation period.

The Smart Option Student Loan is also offered by Citizens Bank.

Wells Fargo Graduate Loan 
Sponsor: Wells Fargo Education Financial Services, 800-658-3567.
Amount: Minimum: $1,000.
Maximum: Full cost of education, minus other financial aid received. (Aggregate limits: Graduate $120,000; Business/Law $180,000.) 
Interest: Currently as low as 6.25%. Based on variable rate equal to prime rate plus 1.50% to 5.0% (without co-borrower) based on credit history, adjusted monthly.
Eligibility: Student must be enrolled in a degree program and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or international student with a U.S. co-signer.
Term: 15 years.
Fees: None.
Deferral: Principal and interest are deferred while students are in-school. Interest is capitalized at repayment.
