Biography
Stefano Bonini joined New York University Stern School of Business as a Visiting Associate Professor of Finance in January 2009.

Prior to joining NYU Stern, Professor Bonini served as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy; an Assistant Professor of Finance at Milan University, Italy; and an Associate Professor at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. He holds a senior faculty position at Bocconi University Business School where he is coordinator of the M.B.A. Corporate Finance course and the Capital Markets course in the M.Sc. in Corporate Finance. Before obtaining his Ph.D. he was a research fellow at Harvard University and MIT.

Professor Bonini’s research interests include how companies raise and manage capital in financial markets and on the quality of information provided by equity and debt analysts. In his research, he has addressed the accuracy of target prices issued by sell-side equity analysts and the information spillovers of target prices on debt rating actions. Three recent papers address the efficiency of alternative equity issuing mechanism, the determinants of venture capital investments and the performance of private equity-backed companies. Currently, he is looking at the impact of equity analysis accuracy on information revelation by companies and the impact of debt rating actions on credit default swaps spreads. His research has been presented extensively in academic and professional conferences and has been granted 12 research grants from the European Union and the Italian Government University Research Program.

Professor Bonini has served as ad-hoc referee for The European Accounting Review, The Review of Finance and European Financial Management.

Professor Bonini received a B.A. in Business, an M.Sc. in Business Economics and a Ph.D. in Business Economics and Finance from Bocconi University.
