Biography
Vijay Vaitheeswaran joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Executive-in-Residence. He teaches the popular MBA course “Energy & Environment: Business as Usual or Ripe for Revolution.”

Mr. Vaitheeswaran is an award-winning correspondent for The Economist. He joined the magazine’s staff as the London-based Latin America Correspondent in 1992, opened its first bureau in that region in Mexico City and served as Bureau Chief until 1997. As the magazine's former Global Environment & Energy Correspondent, he covered politics, economics, business and technology. His portfolio now encompasses global health, pharmaceuticals and innovation.

Mr. Vaitheeswaran is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a regular commentator on television and radio programs including Nightline and Marketplace, in The Wall Street Journal, and in other media outlets.

Mr. Vaitheeswaran's new book, ZOOM: The Global Race to Fuel the Car of the Future, co-authored with Economist colleague Iain Carson, has been named a 2007 Book of the Year by the Financial Times. His previous book on the future of energy is Power to the People.

Mr. Vaitheeswaran's writings have received various prizes in America and abroad. Mr. Vaitheeswaran earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
