Biography
Christine Petrovits joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in July 2005. She teaches Financial Accounting and Reporting in the undergraduate and MBA programs.

Professor Petrovits’s research focuses on the financial reporting decisions of both corporate and not-for-profit organizations. Her study on the accounting effects of corporate philanthropic foundations was published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics. Her current projects investigate the determinants of earnings management, the effect of corporate charity on economic performance, and the role of internal control in the nonprofit sector.

Professor Petrovits earned her B.B.A. in Accounting and her M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary, and her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of North Carolina in 2005. Prior to earning her Ph.D., Professor Petrovits worked as an auditor for KPMG.
