Biography
Elizabeth Wolfe Morrison is ITT Harold Geneen Professor in Creative Management at NYU Stern, and from 8/2001 to 9/2005 she was Chair of the Management and Organizations Department. She has won several research awards, including the Cummings Scholar Award from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management, an award that recognizes significant early-to-mid-career scholarship.
Professor Morrison’s research focuses on how organizations can best leverage employees’ proactive energies. She has studied a variety of ways in which employees take initiative at work, both to aid their own effectiveness and to aid the effectiveness of their organization. Professor Morrison’s recent work also looks at some of the reasons why employees are often afraid to speak up about problems and concerns, and how organizations can create climates more open to employee voice.
Professor Morrison has published articles in a wide range of prestigious journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. She is an Associate Editor for Academy of Management Journal, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management (she will be President of the Division in 2011-2012). Professor Morrison teaches in the MBA, Executive MBA, undergraduate and PhD programs at Stern.
