Biography

Les B. Levi joined New York University Stern School of Business in 2003 as an Adjunct Professor, where he teaches courses on business ethics and financial markets. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial markets as a portfolio manager, research analyst and investment banker.

Professor Levi was most recently a partner at Plainfield Asset Management LLC, a $5 billion special situations hedge fund. Before that, he was an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance Group at J.P.Morgan Chase responsible for structuring loans and bonds for new issuers, as well as restructuring the debt of distressed companies. Professor Levi started at J.P.Morgan Chase in 1997 in High Yield Research, leading the media and telecom industries team. He was also a research analyst at Merrill Lynch, where he co-headed Global High Yield Research. He began his career in high yield research at Drexel Burnham Lambert in 1986.

As a research analyst, Professor Levi was voted onto Institutional Investor's All America Fixed Income Research team more than 12 times, mostly ranked as the #1 and #2 High Yield Analyst in the media and telecom sectors.

Professor Levi holds an M.B.A. in Finance from NYU Stern, a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and a B.A. in English from NYU.
