Joseph J. Dapello joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Entertainment, Media and Technology Program. Professor Dapello is a founding partner of Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams L.L.P., a boutique entertainment law firm based in New York City that is dedicated to serving the creative community throughout the world. The firm represents a variety of clients in all areas of the entertainment business including film, television, theater, publishing, music and interactive media. Currently, Professor Dapello's practice focuses on the representation of actors, directors, writers and producers and the financing, production and distribution of motion pictures. Recent films in which his clients have been involved include "Lust, Caution," "Brokeback Mountain," "Marie Antionette," "In America," "Lost in Translation," "Gosford Park" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Professor Dapello is a frequent lecturer on entertainment law at organizations such as the Practising Law Institute, Independent Feature Project (IFP) and the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. He has been a member of entertainment law panels at Harvard Law School and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Mr. Dapello is admitted to the New York State Bar and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in 1985 from Columbia College, which he also attended on full scholarship as a Pulitzer Scholar. At Columbia, he was awarded early admission to Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year and wrote for the Columbia Spectator. Professor Dapello received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in 1988 from Harvard Law School, which he attended on full scholarship. While at Harvard, he was Vice President, Promotions, of the Harvard Law School Forum and a member of the Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law, and worked on the Journal on Legislation.
