Jon Lee joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Professor of Operations Management in 2002.

In 2000, Professor Lee became a Research Staff Member in the Optimization Center of the Mathematical Science Department at the T.J. Watson Research Center of IBM, where he serves as Manager of the Mathematical Optimization Group. Professor Lee's research interests are currently centered on nonlinear discrete optimization, including MINLP (Mixed-integer nonlinear programming).

Professor Lee spent 1985-1993 at Yale University, where he was an Associate Professor of Operations Research and Director of the Operations Research Graduate Program. From 1993-2000 he was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kentucky. Professor Lee was also a Research Fellow at the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics, Universite Catholique de Louvain, in Belgium, for the academic years 1991-1992 and 1999-2000. He was also a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an Adjunct Professor in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department at Columbia University.

Professor Lee is the author of, A First Course in Combinatorial Optimization (Cambridge University Press), and he was the Founding Managing Editor of the journal, Discrete Optimization.

Currently, Professor Lee is Chair of the Executive Committee of the Mathematical Optimization Society, the Chair-Elect of the INFORMS Optimization Society, an Associate Editor of the journal Discrete Applied Mathematics, a Permanent Member of DIMACS, a Full Member of the COIN-OR Foundation, an external member of CORC Computational Optimization Research Center) of Columbia University and a member of the Working Group on Discrete Optimization of the IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing).

Professor Lee received his Ph.D. in 1986 from Cornell University.
