Elizabeth Wolfe Morrison is ITT Harold Geneen Professor in Creative Management at NYU Stern, and former Chair of the Management and Organizations Department. She teaches courses in Leadership, Organizational Behavior, and Negotiation in the M.B.A., E.M.B.A., and undergraduate programs at Stern, as well as in a variety of custom executive programs.
Professor Morrison's research focuses on different ways in which employees take initiative at work, both to aid their own effectiveness and to aid the effectiveness of their organization. Professor Morrison's recent work also looks at some of the reasons why employees are often afraid to speak up about problems and concerns, and how organizations can create climates more open to employee voice. She has won several awards for her research, including the Cummings Scholar Award from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management, an award that recognizes significant early-to-mid-career scholarship.
Professor Morrison has published articles in a wide range of prestigious journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. From 2007-2010, she was an Associate Editor for Academy of Management Journal, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management (she will be President of the Division in 2011-2012).
