David Eller joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing in 2000, where he teaches an M.B.A. course in business entertainment.
Professor Ellner is also the President of Digital and Business Development for 19 Entertainment, home of the hit television series American Idol. 19 is a multifaceted entertainment company focusing on talent, such as David and Victoria Beckham, and Carrie Underwood. His role at 19 is to cultivate ideas into successful business ventures.
Professor Ellner possesses 25 years experience in the entertainment industry; holding positions in finance, management and new technologies. The first 15 years of his career focused on finance, culminating as the CFO of a $400 million record label, Universal Motown Record Group. After that, he transitioned into management as the Chief Operating Officer of the same label. In this role, Professor Ellner oversaw the daily operations of the company and focused particularly on modernizing the label by embracing the digital age. Subsequently, he held the position of Executive Vice President of Global Digital Initiatives for Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company. In that capacity, he was charged with transitioning the company into the digital age and now possesses a deep understanding of content distribution and innovation.
Professor Ellner graduated from SUNY Albany, he is a C.P.A. and he earned an M.B.A. from NYU Stern.
