Claudine Gartenberg joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Management in September 2011.

Her program focuses on the interplay between firm strategy and structure and individual-level factors such as behavioral biases and self-interest. She studies these connections in economically important contexts where this interplay has a substantial impact. Her studies have focused on, among other topics, the role of incentives and corporate scope of US mortgage lenders immediately prior to the 2007-2008 crisis, the increasing digitization of work within the trucking industry, and the role of firm organization and social comparison in shaping the growth in wage inequality over the past three decades.

Her work has been published in a number of academic journals, including Management Science and Strategy Management Journal, where she currently sits on the editorial board. Prior to joining NYU Stern, Professor Gartenberg was an account manager at a business consulting firm, working with clients such as PG&E, Chevron, Hallmark Cards, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.

Professor Gartenberg received a B.A. with honors in Physics from Harvard College, and a D.B.A. and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where she graduated as a Baker Scholar and received the Wyss Award for best doctoral research.
