Classroom capturing technologies can retrieve and reconnect valuable information for students, allow them to learn at their own pace, cater to different styles of learning, and display complex modeling problems for review. At Stern, the most common classroom capture methods include videotaping lectures and posting lecture outlines or PowerPoint slides on Blackboard. Additionally, a host of other technologies are emerging such as whiteboard cameras, digital annotation on writable screens, and video- or podcasting that create valuable learning tools for students.
But what are the potential ramifications of employing these tools? How can instructors ensure that students continue to come to class if the class is recorded? What are the potential applications of such tools specifically for a business curriculum? How are other schools addressing these concerns?
The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) invites you to a faculty forum on Tuesday, October 17 from 12 – 1:30 that will discuss the value of classroom capture and the issues that such technologies bring. Please mark your calendars for this event; a box lunch will be served.
