About Us
Excellence and innovation in teaching that facilitates student learning.

The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) partners with the Stern faculty in the exploration of new models in teaching and learning. We work with faculty and academic groups to advance courses and programs through purposeful use of technology. The Center promotes interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration.

The Center’s services include: one-on-one consultations and group workshops exploring specific teaching and learning topics. We also offer Blackboard support and enhanced classroom training sessions. CITL conducts research in educational technology with an emphasis on classroom and media tools, social media, learning space design and mobile apps.

iPad App to Improve Access and Use of Digital Course Materials 

In May 2011, Campus Technology recognized NYU Stern and the CITL with the 2011 Campus Technology Innovators Award. This award, granted in the Teaching and Learning category, honored Stern's work with XanEdu Publishing on their joint project: iPad App to Improve Access and Use of Digital Course Materials.

In Spring 2011, CITL hosted a Faculty Forum on how response systems (clickers) can be used in the broader context of actively engaging students. Faculty participated in an interactive session and learned strategies on how to transform the classroom into an interactive and engaging learning environment. Dr. Levy spoke about what he sees as key factors for using clickers effectively, and some of the challenges involved. Videos from the forum are available here.
