| What is Social Entrepreneurship at Stern? Social entrepreneurship holds the promise of effectively addressing, if not solving, some of society's most intractable social problems. Social entrepreneurship is the process of creating value by identifying and resourcefully pursuing opportunities in the pursuit of high social returns.
The Satter Program in Entrepreneurship is to educate, challenge, and inspire social entrepreneurs to leverage intellectual, social, and financial capital resources with a focus on social change, innovation, and impact.
We provide support and create an environment in which social entrepreneurs’ ideas and initiatives take shape and flourish. Much of this involves:
- Providing the training and skills that enable social entrepreneurs to create, grow, and accelerate their businesses and social value propositions.
- Allowing opportunities that secure strategic technical support and financial resources.
- Imparting new approaches and methodologies that align practice and research to improve the overall effectiveness and impact of the social venture.
- Creating a community of students, scholars, and industry leaders devoted to improving the social sector.
The Satter Program was made possible by the generous support of NYU Stern alumnus Stewart Satter, Stern MBA '82 and CEO of Consumer Testing Laboratories, who has donated the seed money for the launch.
Jill Kickul, Satter Program Director and faculty member at New York University Stern School of Business.
