"After returning from the conference in Barcelona, I felt I should report to you guys on this great event! Three days full of excitement in this wonderful city with a good balance of business and pleasure:
Majestic locations for the conference and the cocktail receptions – hotels, palaces, and museums
Lots of beer, wine & cava – always good to keep everybody’s cheerful state of mind
Good food – tapas and much more
Several good presentations by top notch professionals, including
CEO of Santander Bank – Spain's most important private bank, and the second-biggest banking group in the world after HSBC
Chief Economist of La Caixa – Europe’s largest savings bank
Co-President and Co-Founder of Sony Pictures Classics on the business and marketing behind independent films
Restructuring panel led by NYU Stern Professor Altman with leaders of corporate crisis management advisors and distressed funds managers
Panel on Economic Growth through Urban Development led by NYU Professor Hilary Ballon, and featuring a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and more
Lots of good discussions with more than 250 alumni from many different countries, including the US, London, Frankfurt, Spain, Paris, Korea, Netherlands, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, as well as many different industries.
Finally, I’d like to thank the Stern faculty and staff for making this a truly fantastic event!"
-Oded Agam, Senior Strategic Planner, Intel Corporation
"I want you to know what a splendid job you and your staff did in organizing the Conference in Barcelona. The presentations were interesting, varied and timely. You were successful in supplying the audience with trends in the business world as well as a history in the making of the City of Barcelona, a very progressive town. The whole event was indeed a tasty treat - whether we are speaking about the food, the people, the venues, the entertainment or the weather (which, with your superb organizational skills, must have had something to do with your input). I had a great time and am in admiration of what you accomplished."
-Carole Bloch
“This had to have been the best Global Alumni Conference I’ve been to just in terms of camaraderie and friendship, let alone the excellent content and beautiful venues. Stern has come such a long way since I started in the part-time MBA program; it is amazing to see and the momentum is building. As the years have progressed and the rankings and reputation have improved, more and more successful alumni are coming back in the hope of reconnecting as well as to contribute their time and resources. I believe that this trend will only continue, but it is also up to us to set the right tone and message. Once again, a great job done by Alumni Relations & Development. Thank you!”
-Chris O'Connell, MBA '00, President, Leede Capital Inc., and Vice Chair of Signature Events, NYU Stern Alumni Council
"Thank you to all the alumni, faculty, and staff that participated in both the discussions and the Conference itself. It was great meeting fellow alumni over the course of the weekend. As an alumnus who has worked internationally and moved back home to New York, I found the conference an informative and enjoyable way to stay connected to Stern's increasing global presence."
-Michael Schron, BS '91, Business Development Manager, Robert P. Schron Associates Ltd.
"Thanks to all of you for the great organization of the successful event! I had fun and also learned a few things and re-connected to some old friends, so it was a great weekend for me. I would say organization was excellent in terms of locations chosen, top-notch speakers and panelists, faculty and alumni office staff presence, timing of all the sessions, etc. I can only congratulate you!"
-Adriana Viejo, MBA '04, Emerging Markets Development Manager, Puid Beauty & Fashion Group S.L.
