2005 Lubin Lecture Featuring Bestselling Author, Amy Chua

Amy Chua, author of The New York Times bestseller, “World on Fire,” will present the Lubin Lecture on Thursday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Stern Undergraduate College. Ms. Chua, a professor at Yale Law School, lectures widely in the U.S. and abroad on the topic of globalization. In “World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability,” Chua offers audiences a fundamentally new perspective on how to sustain globalization by finding ways to spread its benefits while curbing its most destructive aspects.

About the Lubin Lecture
The Joseph I. Lubin Memorial Lecture was established through the generosity of the late Joseph I. Lubin, a distinguished business, civic and philanthropic leader and a trustee of New York University. This lecture is among Stern's most distinguished and is dedicated to attracting world-class leaders to NYU's campus to discuss issues of importance to current and prospective business and civic leaders.

Past speakers have included former Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, former U.S. Senators Edmund S. Muskie and Jacob J. Javits, former Federal Reserve Chairmen Arthur F. Burns and Paul A. Volcker, Nobel Laureate Wassily Leontief, composer William Schuman, the retired Chairman of American Express Company and BS '61, Harvey Golub, and Ismail Merchant, MBA '60 and film producer, director and author.

This year’s Lecture is being held in conjunction with the school’s first reunion for alumni of the Stern Scholars Program (see article in this issue of STERN@lumni for more information).
