Alumni Affairs Launches Print Directory ProjectNYU Stern will partner with Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI), the SWAP online community vendor, to offer a complete print NYU Stern Alumni Directory to all alumni. During the upcoming academic year, the School will be collecting updated information on all 69,000 alumni worldwide for the 2006 edition of the publication. Stern Incubator Winners AnnouncedThe Stern Incubator is proud to announce the incoming tenants that have been selected for its next round of occupancy, beginning August 15, 2005. The new tenants are Shift, co-founded by Stern alumnus Jason Rissman MBA '06; Norooz Productions, co-founded by Stern alumnus Shabnam Rezaei, MBA '01; Enpresence, co-founded by Stern alumnus David Cowing, EMBA '05; and MET Tech, founded by Stern alumnus Jacob Bindler, MBA '96. Lifelong Learning Workshop: “Distressed Debt”Alumni Affairs is pleased to announce the first event in the 2005-2006 Lifelong Learning Workshop Series, on the topic of “Investing in and Analyzing Distressed Debt,” which will be held on Friday, October 28, 2005. This half-day workshop will feature a presentation by Edward Altman, Max L. Heine Professor of Finance at the NYU Stern and the Vice-Director of the NYU Salomon Center for Research in Financial Institutions and Markets, followed by a panel discussion with industry experts and a networking luncheon. 2005 Lubin Lecture Featuring Bestselling Author, Amy ChuaAmy Chua, author of The New York Times bestseller, “World on Fire,” will present the Lubin Lecture on Thursday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Stern Undergraduate College. Ms. Chua, a professor at Yale Law School, lectures widely in the U.S. and abroad on the topic of globalization. In “World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability,” Chua offers audiences a fundamentally new perspective on how to sustain globalization by finding ways to spread its benefits while curbing its most destructive aspects. Undergraduate Scholars ReunionThe NYU Stern Undergraduate College and the Office of Alumni Affairs will host a reunion reception for graduates of the Scholars Program on September 29. The event will offer graduates of this prestigious program an evening to reconnect with former classmates and fellow alumni.
Boston Regional Event featuring Cathy Minehan, MBA ’77Alumni Affairs and the NYU Stern Alumni in Boston Regional Group have partnered to host a unique event on September 13, featuring Stern alumna, Cathy Minehan, MBA ’77. Ms. Minehan is the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., form the Federal Reserve System. NYU Stern Names Economist William J. Baumol Academic Director of The Berkley Center For Entrepreneurial StudiesNew York University Stern School of Business announced that William J. Baumol, renowned economist for his work in entrepreneurship, was named Academic Director of the Berkley Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (BCES) and Harold Price Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics. As Academic Director, Professor Baumol will be responsible for establishing innovative courses and driving the creation of entrepreneurial research within the Center.
