Admissions Update: 2004 Graduates Arrive,
Recruitment for Next Class Underway
The Office of MBA Admissions is proud to introduce the Class of 2004
- one of the best and brightest of any Stern class yet! Applications for this fall's class rose to 5,000, up almost
25% from last year, allowing us to improve the overall quality of the student body. This resulted in the most successful
recruiting year Stern has had to date.
After holding over 60 recruiting events around the world, reviewing 5,000 applications, conducting more than 1,300
interviews and holding Stern's second annual "Pre-View" event for more than 125 admitted students, we
are pleased to welcome 390 incoming MBA students to campus. The class represents 36 states and 57 countries, consists
of 38% women, has an average GMAT score of an impressive 700, an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 and almost five years
of work experience. Of the incoming class, 34% are international students and 23% are minority, with underrepresented
minorities comprising 13% of the class.
MBA Admissions is already working on the next group of candidates and has set the most ambitious recruiting calendar
in Stern's history. Currently, Admissions presentations in 30 cities and 36 MBA Fairs are scheduled. You, our alumni,
are a crucial part of our recruiting efforts, and we hope to see you at events in your area. Look for more information
this fall.
Alumni now have the opportunity to play a supporting role in the admissions process by volunteering to participate
in the new
Alumni STAR (STern Admissions Representative) program.
The Office of MBA Admissions is grateful to the alumni who generously provided corporate sites for our events in
the past year, attended recruiting events, conducted interviews and encouraged friends and co-workers to apply.
We look forward to seeing you this fall!
