Stern Announces Major Gifts:
New Professorship and
Commons Room Dedication

Dean Thomas F. Cooley and former Dean George Daly recently announced two major gifts to the Stern School that will provide important assistance in its continued progress. These include the endowment of a new Professorship in Ethics and Corporate Governance and Strategy in honor of businessman Seymour Milstein and a naming gift of the new Commons Room in memory of Douglas B. Gardner.

Philip L. Milstein, MBA '74, member of the NYU Stern Board of Overseers and President of the Emigrant Savings Bank, together with his wife Cheryl Milstein, have endowed a Professorship in Ethics and Corporate Governance and Strategy in honor of his late father, Seymour Milstein. Seymour Milstein, a 1941 NYU Heights Campus BA graduate, was a distinguished businessman, philanthropist and humanitarian.

In addition, Joseph Gardner, BS '49, has made a naming gift for the new Commons Room adjacent to the September 11 Memorial Lobby of Shimkin Hall. The space will now be known as the Joseph H. and Douglas B. Gardner Commons Room in memory of Joseph's son, Douglas, who was a top executive of Cantor Fitzgerald and lost his life in the World Trade Center.
