President Sexton Continues
Regional Tour

Last fall, the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations launched a series of 17 regional receptions to introduce President John Sexton to NYU alumni, parents and friends across the country. Building on the success of the fall tour, President Sexton made his final visits of the academic year to five locations in California, followed by receptions in Boston and Washington, D.C.

California
President Sexton kicked off his visit to California with a luncheon for over 50 guests at L'Auberge Del Mar Resort in San Diego on April 27. Later that evening, President Sexton greeted guests at the Four Seasons Resort in Newport Beach as NYU alumni gathered in Orange County.

On April 28, the tour of California continued with lunch for 50 alumni, parents and friends at the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto, followed by a large reception attended by over 100 guests at the City Club of San Francisco in the Pacific Stock Exchange Tower. Jack Ehlers, MBA '98 and San Francisco Regional Group Leader, attended the event to mingle with fellow alumni.

The final reception in California was held on April 29 for over 200 Los Angeles-area alumni, parents, and friends at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Stern Alumni in Los Angeles Regional Co-Chairs Ilana Sparrow, MBA '00, and Kate Nelson, MBA '00, used the opportunity to meet with fellow alumni and discuss developing the Group and expanding its activities.

"I really enjoyed the Los Angeles reception," said David Kelly, MBA '90. "President Sexton was a warm and engaging speaker. The food, drink and atmosphere were ideal (as was the weather). I even met some parents of newly enrolled students and parents of alumni! And if you like celebrities - film director John Landis, and Les Moonves, President and CEO of CBS, were both in attendance."

Boston
After a snowstorm in mid-February forced the cancellation of the Boston reception, the event was rescheduled for May 6. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel on Boylston Street, President Sexton welcomed over 100 alumni, parents and friends. Chris Epperson, MBA '98 and member of the Stern Alumni in Boston Regional Group, attended the event and met with fellow Stern graduates.

Washington, D.C.
The final regional reception was held in Washington, D.C., on May 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue. Once again, over 100 alumni, parents and friends attended the event to meet President Sexton and members of the NYU community. Seth Balsam, MBA '97 and Chair of the Stern Alumni in Washington, D.C., Regional Group, and Jit Saha, MBA '99, were among the attendees.

The University will continue its series of regional events again next fall, beginning in September.
