Stern-Wharton Finance Forum

Undergraduate students from NYU Stern School of Business and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania joined together for the first ever Stern-Wharton Finance Forum. The event, held at Stern on January 24, was jointly organized by student groups from the two schools. It marked the first occasion in which the two undergraduate programs collaborated to host an event of this magnitude.

The theme of the Forum was "Distressing Times: Crisis in Corporate America." The Forum focused on both the issue of dealing with conflicts of interest between investment banking and equity research, as well as predicting and coping in distressed capital markets. Conference speakers represented every facet of the industry including academia, banking, buy-side investment, enforcement and equity research. Featured speakers included Eric Dinallo, Bureau Chief, Investor Protection in the New York State Attorney General's Office, and Anthony Magro, Managing Director and Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Banc of America Securities.

More than 200 Stern and Wharton students participated in the conference. Stern juniors who led the efforts in the Forum's establishment and organization include: Aaron Yuan, Co-Chair; Sohail Shahrasebi, Executive Director; Shabari Nayak, Senior Director; and Rahat Ahmed, Technology & Marketing.
