January
2003 Langone On January 15, a reception
was held in honor of the January 2003 graduates of The Langone Program:
A Part-time MBA for Working Professionals. The event, hosted by The
Langone Program Office in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Affairs,
brought together nearly 100 graduates and their guests to celebrate
their completion of the MBA Program. Kim Corfman, Associate Dean of Instructional Support and Academic Director of The Langone Program, congratulated the graduates and provided an update on recent news from the Program. Dean Corfman highlighted the establishment of core groups and the creation last year of the Part-Time Leadership Forum (PTLF) - the student government representation of The Langone Program - whose president sits on Student Corporation (SCorp). She also described a new, modular schedule for the part-time program, which allows candidates greater flexibility in completing their degrees. This new schedule will allow students to finish their degrees in as little as two years. Russell S. Winer, newly-appointed Deputy Dean, also attended the reception to meet alumni. Suzette Lemson, Assistant Dean for Alumni Affairs, welcomed the attendees into the Stern School alumni community. She encouraged all graduates to play an active role in the continued building and strengthening of the alumni network - one of the largest and most successful alumni bodies of the world's top business schools. She explained the importance of signing on to SWAP (Stern Worldwide Alumni Platform), the password protected, online community of Stern alumni. SWAP, which was recently upgraded, provides expanded services for Stern alumni. In addition to the standard features such as e-mail forwarding for life, resume posting and the advanced contact search tool, SWAP services now include new features such as mail groups, class and regional group websites, a Class Notes section and access to career resources. "Enrolling in SWAP upon graduation and keeping your contact information up to date ensures that you receive the regular communications we send from the School," said Dean Lemson. "These include our quarterly e-newsletter, our Sternalumni print newsletter, which comes out three times a year, and important announcements and updates from the School, as well as information about events and activities of interest." Miriam Feinstein, President of the Part-Time Leadership Forum (PTLF), closed the program by leading the attendees in a toast to the graduates. The
Office of Alumni Affairs looks forward to welcoming the January 2003
graduates of The Langone Program at future alumni events. |
