Kavesh, Marcus Nadler Professor of Finance and Economics Emeritus, will be honored at a special dinner on April 15 organized by The Money Marketeers, a club comprising NYU Stern finance graduates. The event will recognize Professor Kavesh with the Fellows Award for his distinguished career and contributions to higher education in the area of finance. "I am honored to be presented with the Fellows Award," said Professor Kavesh. "I have greatly enjoyed my association with The Money Marketeers, both as member and officer in the club." At the dinner, Professor Kavesh will present remarks entitled, "What Goes Around Comes Around Or Does It?" Professor Kavesh is known for his courses in Current Economic and Financial Problems and The Social Setting of Business. One of his many successful and distinguished former students at Stern is Dr. Alan Greenspan, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve. Professor Kavesh's research interests include economic and financial forecasting techniques and current policy issues. He is Co-Editor of two Prentice Hall publications: How Business Economists Forecast and Methods and Techniques of Business Forecasting, as well as numerous articles in a variety of publications. Professor Kavesh is a former business economist at the Chase Manhattan Bank and Executive Secretary and Treasurer of The American Finance Association. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Del Laboratories Inc. and Neuberger Berman Mutual Funds. "Professor Kavesh has been one of the most respected and best-loved professors at Stern since he joined the faculty in 1958," said Richard Rizzolo, MBA '71 and member of The Money Marketeers. "We are delighted to present this year's award to Professor Kavesh, who is a former President, Fellow and Honorary Member of The Money Marketeers." The Money Marketeers began in the 1930s as a group of students inspired by the ideas of Dr. Marcus Nadler, NYU faculty member, a renowned teacher and an economic advisor to bankers, businessmen and policymakers. With his reputation as a major forecaster established following the stock market crash of 1929, Dr. Nadler's following outgrew his classroom. Twice a week, he would lecture to hundreds of students in a large auditorium overlooking the financial district. It was from these classes, and the dinner club that followed, that The Money Marketeers Club originated. Today, The Money Marketeers is made up of approximately 140 members and meets around seven times per year. The club, which is primarily but not exclusively made up of Stern alumni, seeks to enhance knowledge and understanding of the financial marketplace and promote higher education in finance. Reservations
are required for the April 15 dinner. The event is open to all Stern
alumni. For additional information and questions, please contact Gloria
