Be an Alumni Buddy for MBA Admissions Offered through MBA Admissions,
the Alumni Buddy program provides a great volunteer opportunity for
MBA alumni. As part of STAR (STern Admissions Representative), the Alumni
Buddy program connects prospective MBA students with alumni for informal
discussions about the Stern School. Students may ask questions on a
variety of topics, such as experiences at Stern, living in NYC or career
path. Alumni can live anywhere in the world to participate. The Alumni Buddy program is a one-to-one connection between MBA alumni and prospective students who have been admitted to the MBA program. By providing direct contact between alumni and admitted students, the program is working in support of the admissions process by encouraging admitted students to choose Stern over other programs. Since the admissions process lasts throughout most of the year, the involvement is not limited to any specific time period. The time commitment can be as minimal or as much as an alumnus/a wants. At the minimum, alumni are asked to have a brief e-mail exchange or phone conversation with their student matches. The Alumni Buddy program is a great way to share your Stern experience and assist the School in securing its top prospects. Once you sign up and submit your information, you will be matched with an admitted student who may contact you via e-mail or phone. Since the admissions process takes place over many months, you could be matched with a student buddy any time between January and mid-summer. Comments or suggestions on the Alumni Buddy program are welcomed. Please contact Julia Min, Assistant Dean of MBA Admissions, at (212) 998-0622 or jmin@stern.nyu.edu with suggestions. We hope that you will enjoy meeting our future MBAs and we thank you in advance for your participation. Read
