"Boardroom Bound: A Guide to Non-Profit Boards"

Serving on a nonrprofit board offers professionals an opportunity to bring their experience, skills and knowledge to the table. Offering a valuable outsider perspective, board members are often able to identify possible opportunities that might have been left unseen by members of the management team. Board diversity is crucial in providing a variety of perspectives to help unearth new ideas and enable diverse decision-making that ultimately results in a healthier business. Securing positions for minorities and women on non profit boards is essential in creating this diversity. This panel seeks to provide advice and insight to minorities and women looking to secure a position on a non-profit boards.

Learn what VC's, Angels & Private Equity Investors look for when investing in start-ups. Learn what to expect, how to prepare, how to position oneself for success throughout this process.
At this event, you will have the opportunity to observe a LIVE investor presentation by start-up company TBD. Observe, firsthand, how investors interact with the management team, note the types of questions they ask about the business and team. Experience how, and what, the entrepreneurs choose to present to the investors. At the conclusion of the investor/startup interaction, the audience will be able to ask questions and network with the investor panel directly.

First Thursday Program: Dancing with the Stern Stars: Learn How to Salsa and Do the Hustle

NYU Torch Club, 18 Waverly Place (between Greene and Mercer streets), New York City
Join recent alumni of the Undergraduate College to learn the salsa and how to do the hustle from fellow alumnus, Weikai Lang (BS '03). Wear comfortable clothes and shoes without rubber soles. A light reception follows the dance lesson. Please note, spaces are limited and will fill up quickly. RSVP now to reserve your spot.

This annual event brings together international MBA students and alumni and those interested in the international business community. Professor Ed Altman will present his thoughts on whether historical bankruptcy models still apply to today's markets, and Mark Patterson (MBA '86) will offer his perspective on this topic from a market and business standpoint. Mary Ellen Georgas (MBA '93), Chair of the Alumni Council, will provide welcoming remarks.

This event offers an opportunity for young Stern undergraduates to network with and learn from professionals that were once in their shoes. This is also a great chance for Alumni to give back to an organization that is dedicated to offering Real Estate exposure to undergraduates in a school that otherwise lacks a Real Estate curriculum.
