STERN@alumni vol.2 issue 1

A Message from
Dean Thomas F. Cooley

I am pleased to welcome the Class of 2003 into the Stern alumni community. These new graduates are joining a network of more than 60,000 distinguished professionals in 100 countries worldwide. This network is stronger and more engaged in the life of the Stern School than ever before.

Increasing numbers of alumni are becoming active participants in our community. Thousands of alumni have signed on to SWAP (Stern Worldwide Alumni Platform) the online alumni community, and are taking advantage of its many features. Alumni also are participating in events, volunteering for mentor programs and joining Task Forces and Committees of the Alumni Council. New programming such as the Career Resource Seminar Series and the Author Lecture Series with the Museum of American Financial History have provided alumni with the chance to learn new skills and with a valuable networking forum.

In the year ahead, we intend to build on these initiatives and expand services in the areas that are important to you, including career resources, lifelong learning opportunities, industry panels and networking programs. Alumni also are invited to join us for London 2003: NYU Stern Global Alumni Conference, which will bring together a distinguished panel of economists in London, England, on September 13. In addition, plans are underway for the Third Annual Stern Alumni Ball to be held on December 6, 2003, here in New York City. I invite you to read the latest details about these programs and many new opportunities to be involved in this issue of Stern@lumni.

Alumni engagement in the coming years will continue to play a fundamental role in Stern's upward momentum. The strength of our alumni network relies on your commitment to participate. I look forward to working together in the year ahead as we strengthen the alumni community.

Best regards,

Thomas F. Cooley
Dean

Share News with Fellow Alumni

As an added feature of the recently upgraded SWAP (Stern Worldwide Alumni Platform), a new Class Notes section creates a forum to announce personal and professional milestones and to read the latest news from fellow alumni. Class Notes is a great way to keep up-to-date with what your fellow alumni are doing around the world and to share your latest news.

You may send in your own notes about a new job and/or promotion; a professional or educational achievement; or personal news such as a marriage or arrival of a new family member. Sorted by decade, the Class Notes section enables you to easily keep up with former classmates' news.
