Dual MBA with HEC School of Management

NYU Stern and the HEC School of Management in France (HEC) offer a dual MBA program, the aim of which is to provide solid business training in an international setting. This is a rare opportunity for students to benefit from the business excellence and extensive networks of two highly respected institutions. Participants may begin their studies at either institution and will be awarded both the NYU Stern MBA and the HEC MBA upon successful completion of the program.

Program Overview
Participants may begin at either institution. All dual degree students have full access to the MBA Academic Advising Office. Those beginning in the full-time NYU Stern MBA program will complete the Core Phase, normally from mid-September to mid-May. They would then integrate the equivalent second year at HEC. Conversely, those completing the second portion of their studies at NYU Stern would enter directly into electives, normally from September to mid-May. During the Personalized Phase/Electives, dual degree participants will follow the same course structure and are expected to carry a full load.

Tuition and Fees
HEC students pay the full-time continuing student tuition and fees to NYU Stern Bursar at the rate set by NYU Stern and according to the Bursar Schedule for their second year.

Financial Aid
NYU Stern students who attend HEC in their second year will not be eligible for the traditional financial aid programs that they receive here at NYU Stern. They will, however, be able to apply for Federal Stafford loans, HEC need-based and merit-based scholarships and the HEC loan program. NYU Stern students who receive 2-year awards (Consortium Fellows and Dean’s Scholars) cannot use their scholarship funds at HEC.

HEC students that attend NYU Stern for the second year will be able to qualify for the same financial aid assistance as our second-year MBA students. U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents will be able to apply for the full cost of attendance using the $20,500 in Federal Stafford loans (interest rates are fixed at 6.8%) and the remainder in private or alternative loans.

International students may be able to apply for private loans.

There are no need-based grants given to any NYU Stern student; however, HEC students will be considered for our merit-based donor awards, as well as Teaching Fellowships and Graduate Assistantships. No application is necessary as all second-year students are automatically considered. Teaching Fellows and Graduate Assistants would simply need to secure a position and sign a contract.

Career Services
HEC students attend NYU Stern in their second year only, and as such, will participate in the development and placement services offered by the Office of Career Development (OCD) for full-time second-year MBA students. Participation is contingent upon the following conditions:

  1. HEC students hold an F-1 visa.
  2. Prior to coming to Stern, HEC students watch all of the Career Development Program (CDP) sessions that Stern first-year students attend. This would be on the honor system. HEC students need to submit their résumés for approval by Stern OCD in June, prior to their first semester at Stern.
  3. If HEC students participated in a summer internship, this information must be submitted to OCD to be included in the Summer Internship Spreadsheet at the beginning of the summer.
  4. HEC students must meet with an OCD career counselor when they arrive on campus to review requirements and procedures.
  5. HEC students must participate in the OCD mock interview program for second-year students.

On-Campus Recruiting: HEC students will be included in the second-year on-campus recruiting activities provided they meet the CDP requirements outlined above before the start of recruiting season.
Activities include but are not limited to: corporate presentations, on-campus interviews, access to alumni, access to job postings, job search strategy sessions, access to online career resources through the website (such as guides, interview questions database, and company database), and access to the Career Resource Center and its related training.

Alumni
Dual degree graduates will have access to lifetime resources, benefits and services available to alumni of the NYU Stern School of Business and HEC.

Applying to the Dual Degree Program
Stern MBA students apply in their first year at Stern to participate in the dual degree program and will work with MBA Academic Advising on this process.

HEC MBA students apply in their first year at HEC to participate in the dual degree program. You must submit a paper application, complete with official transcripts and recommendations sealed in signed envelopes, by February 15. Applicants will be notified by April 1. For specific directions on applying to Stern from HEC, please refer to our HEC Dual Degree Admissions page.

Individuals who already hold one of the individual degrees are not eligible for admission to the dual degree program.
