Scholarship/Fellowship Highlights:
The Stern Military Service Scholarship
We are pleased to announce a new scholarship for incoming MBA students in the U.S. Military or Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. For Fall 2009, a $25,000 military service scholarship will be awarded to one first-year, full-time MBA student. The scholarship funds will be applied to Stern tuition only for the first year of study and will not be renewable. This scholarship intends to assist students in using their unique military backgrounds to contribute to the business community and become leaders in the Stern community. We anticipate that “Stern Military Scholars” will use their leadership skills to serve as role models to their peers within the community. All incoming first-year, full-time students may apply for the scholarship in late summer.
Kenshin Oshima Scholarship and Prize Program
The Kenshin Oshima Scholarship provides up to $50,000 in scholarship support to the most promising first year MBA student(s) with a deep and abiding interest in Asian culture. All admitted students will be considered for the Oshima Scholarship, which is typically awarded in late summer. The Kenshin Oshima Prize will award $100,000 to second year MBA students achieving the School's most distinguished academic record.
Reynolds Foundation Graduate Fellowship in Social Entrepreneurship
New York University is delighted to offer $50,000 tuition scholarships for graduate students interested in social entrepreneurship. The Reynolds Foundation Graduate Fellowship in Social Entrepreneurship is available to students pursuing a master’s or professional degree in any of NYU’s graduate or professional schools on a full-time basis.
The fellowship includes seminars with influential leaders in various fields and a special course on social entrepreneurship taught by a faculty member at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Reynolds Fellows have the opportunity to meet other students interested in social entrepreneurship from a wide range of disciplines throughout NYU.
To be eligible for consideration for a Reynolds Fellowship, applicants to Stern must meet the November 15 application deadline. In addition, interested applicants must submit a Reynolds application by the deadline indicated on the Reynolds website. Reynolds application instructions are available on the Reynolds website. You may submit an application for a Reynolds Fellowship prior to receiving an admissions decision from NYU Stern. However, to be eligible to be selected as a recipient, you must apply by November 15 and be admitted to NYU Stern.
If you are selected as a finalist, you will be notified by the Reynolds Program directly. Those not selected to proceed will also be notified. If you are selected as a finalist, you must participate in an interview, to be scheduled in March or April. Attendance at this interview is mandatory and required to proceed in being considered for a fellowship.
Fellowship winners will be notified in April. If you are selected as a fellowship recipient, you will be asked to respond to the fellowship offer within one to two days.
All Reynolds Fellows will participate in a retreat in August prior to Stern’s mandatory Pre-Term orientation in late August.
