David Gorelik

I came to Stern to change my career, find a job that I would love, and gain a better understanding of the business world.  Over the last two years there have been many ups and downs, as there should be in any critical period of one’s life.  I would not change a thing.

One highlight from my experiences has been my participation in the Stern Consulting Corps.  The Stern Consulting Corps gives Stern students an opportunity to apply what they learn in school to local organizations.  Passionate about education, I had the opportunity to work at the Urban Assembly School of Law and Justice in Brooklyn, a young public high school with a mission to get their students into college.  My project was to design a detailed anonymous survey which inquired into the students’ academic, extracurricular, and general life experiences.  I interviewed teachers, coaches, and staff to find the right questions to ask.  The survey was going to be rolled out to 400 students all at once and I had no room for error.  The leadership at the high school truly wanted to understand its students’ perceptions and to make improvements.  I was honored to have the opportunity to help and fortunate that Stern developed the Stern Consulting Corps.  I am carrying forward my interest in consulting after school and the experience has left me better prepared to begin my career.
